Discover the Latino presence in Kansas.
Join us as we host José Faus for his presentation “They Changed My Name,” to explore immigration and the history of Latinos in Kansas told through his personal journey from the heart of Colombia, South America to the heart of the United States, experiencing the conundrum of belonging in unfamiliar surroundings while straddling two different cultures and narratives, told through the lens of visual art and poetry.
José Faus is an independent teacher, artist, and founder of the Latino Writers Collective in Kansas City who was born in Bogota, Colombia but grew up in Kansas.
