FLINT HILLS COUNTERPOINT AUDIO BOOK TOUR

Take a journey with Rex Buchanan (Director Emeritus of the Kansas Geological Society) through the story of Marion County, Kansas with Flint Hills Counterpoint’s Audio Tour Book. Venture into the intersection of the tallgrass prairie and the Flint Hills while experiencing the memories, folklore, and natural history of the area. Travel to actual locations and landmarks of each story while following the book’s map coordinates. As a group, experience the book’s content that is a combination of narration, sounds, photography, original musical scores, short films, and animations.

A native of Kansas, Rex Buchanan is the co-author of Roadside Kansas: A Guide to its Geology and Landmarks, editor of Kansas Geology: An Introduction to Landscapes, Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils, and co-author of The Canyon Revisited: A Rephotography of the Grand Canyon, 1923-1991. He served as Secretary of the Association of American State Geologists and  chaired the Kansas Task Force on Induced Seismicity.  In 2008 he was named a fellow of the Geological Society of America and in 2016 received GSA’s Public Service Award.
