Baby Farm Animal Tour

Enjoy spring baby and full-grown farm animals on Flint Hills Counterpoint’s self-guided Baby Farm Animal Tour held on March 5th. Explore three family farms in Marion County, including wool spinning demos, incubated chicks, a family owned alpaca wool business, and presentations from local 4-H Youth. Bring your family to experience goats, sheep, chickens, guineas, bison, alpacas and horses face to face.

Flint Hills Counterpoint will launch its 2021-2022 Tour season with Summer Sound Tasting. Sample the summer sounds of Marion County! Join in a community musical work inspired by the intriguing soundscape of Marion County.

The tour will start at Fannie Sterling 1884 and the Porcupine Tea Company, 123 N. Walnut, Peabody, KS. Music from Fannie Sterling’s player piano will filter out to the sidewalk where Pandea Smith will have sparkling fruit tea and scones from Porcupine Tea Company available for sale. Susan Mayo will give a whirlwind talk about soundscapes and sound collection at 7:30 followed by exploration of Fannie Sterlings 1884 and Flint Hills Gypsy (to collect sounds and possibly antiques!). The evening will be capped off by a jaunt to Faie Frederickson’s beautiful prairie walk to enjoy and collect the night sounds of the prairie.
